Pico’s appointment to manage the interior decoration, exhibitions, multimedia and operations at the Lesotho Pavilion required a broad range of skills. Charting the country’s evolution from ancient Basotho culture to modern urban life; the pavilion experience began with entering a traditional Lesotho cottage, with clay walls and a thatched roof and
welcomed by a Basotho couple. Moving on, visitors were given an entertaining, informative and multi-sensory look at Lesotho’s unique architectural culture. All materials in the pavilion, including the flooring, were made in Lesotho and transported to China specifically for the Expo.
